Thoughtful Thursday - January 28th

Apparently it is Thursday again?! Craig has a coffee and a chat about golf with Ian Clark, Michael continues to teach us about the spine and the absolute stars at Absolute Studios have some inspo to help you live your best life…

Clinic Updates

Another week on the ‘no new updates’ front. Thanks to everyone for their diligence in contacting us with any problems or concerns prior to turning up. Really appreciate it.

A very BIG thanks to those who have been offering to help out with reviews, changing appointment times to help us accommodate others, the cakes, and for the positive feedback on our education series. Also, a special thanks to one of you who has been assisting us in sourcing PPE – actual lifesaver! Very grateful to you all.

Podcasts

This week’s Chiro.London Pod, proudly fuelled by Ground Coffee Society, had Craig shooting the breeze about all things golf with Golf Coach Ian Clark.

They discussed golf technology, golf tips to lower your score, body/biomechanics issues that prevent an optimal swing, what is myTPI (Titleist Performance Institute), a couple of exercises you can do to help, and then dissected all five (!) of Tiger Wood's back operations and gave some insight into why he needed them (the x-rays were amazing).

Watch it here, or listen to it as a podcast on our website, or on Spotify, Apple and Google, too.

Vertebra of The Week

We continue our tour of your spine with Michael’s vertebra of the week. I am once again offering an adjustment (on me!) to the first person to get back to me with a rundown of what Michael explained last week…

C4

Yes, everyone carries C4 with them. And I don’t mean the kind we find in action movies (no plastic explosives or dynamite here!).

C4 controls the nerves that run through the nose, mouth and Eustachian tube. Now, in winter we see a lot of runny noses wherever we go, so many people start looking forward to spring – more sunshine, warmer weather, flowers and… POLLEN!! This is the one dreaded season for everyone who suffers from hayfever, which can be linked to the C4 nerve.

The C4 nerve also supplies: adenoids (lymphatic tissue between the back of the nose and throat), ears (helps with hearing) and diaphragm (main breathing muscle).

Shameless Plug of the Week

This one is all about breaking those bad habits and living your best life! The Absolute Studios team are at it again (I know we seem to pass on a lot of their stuff, but they are doing absolutely awesome things that are worth a nosy) and this time they’ve created the 28-Day Reset Retreat.

It’s fair to say many of us have developed more bad habits than we would normally at this time of the year. You’re not alone if you’re finding it really tough to break them, or simply just don't know where to start. Given the extreme uncertainty in the world, most of us declined to set New Year’s goals, which would usually assist with breaking those bad habits. In order to untangle our bad habits and create new, good, powerful and lasting habits, the team at Absolute have developed a special programme to help, featuring intelligent, science-based content, simple actions underpinned by proven habit-creation techniques, and their awesome staff will support you every step of the way.

The 28-day programme, starting February 1st, includes:

  • Exercises to help you move more freely and avoid unnecessary aches/pains, by Exercise Physiologist and Pilates Master Trainer Luke Meessmann

  • Techniques to help you overcome stress, by Stress & Resilience coach Linda Torbet

  • Ways to tweak your diet to include foods which are good for your mind and body, boost your immune system and improve your overall health, by Biochemist & Fresh Fitness Food Nutritionist Meghan Foulsham

  • Weekly meditation classes with Meditation Master Giada Frazouli

  • Regular support from the experts via a dedicated Facebook Group and weekly Zoom sessions.

Click here to sign up or find out more and banish those bad habits for good!

That is me over and out for another week – days are getting longer, and we are nearly into February. Keep looking after yourselves until next week!

Cheers,

Drew
