Headaches

The first point to recognise is that headaches are never "normal". They are the body's way of signalling that something is wrong.

The second point to note is there are numerous different types and causes of headaches. Correctly identifying the type of headache and the cause of your headache are most important steps in getting rid of them for good. And that’s where your chiropractor comes in.

Some of the most common types of headaches are tension headaches, sinus headaches, cluster headaches, migraines and cervicogenic headaches, all of which can be helped with chiropractic care. Particularly in the case of tension headaches (caused by tension in the neck muscles) and migraines, both of which have been found to respond extremely well to chiropractic treatment.

The purpose of chiropractic is to decrease tension in the body and stress on the nervous system. When the body is able to function properly and with ease, it can help relax the symptoms of the headache and, depending on the cause of the headaches, can reduce their frequency and intensity over time. In many cases, chronic and recurrent headaches can be eliminated altogether. Or, in the case of migraines, the frequency and severity of the headaches can be dramatically reduced, along with sensitivity to triggers, which makes a massive difference to a migraine sufferer's quality of life.
