Cookie Policy

We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to improve your browsing experience, analyse site traffic, and support our marketing activities. This policy explains what cookies are, how we use them, and the choices available to you. You choose which optional cookies to allow in our cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the Manage Cookie Preferences button in the bottom corner of every page.

01

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone, or other device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to the website owner.

Cookies allow websites to remember your actions and preferences (such as login details, language, font size, and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you do not have to re-enter these every time you visit or browse from page to page.

Session vs Persistent Cookies

Session cookies are temporary and are deleted from your device when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them manually. We use both types depending on the purpose.

First-Party vs Third-Party Cookies

First-party cookies are set directly by our website. Third-party cookies are set by external services we use, such as Google Analytics or booking software. These third parties have their own privacy policies which we link to where relevant.

02

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • To ensure our website functions correctly and securely.
  • To remember your preferences and settings between visits.
  • To understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.
  • To provide relevant content and personalise your experience.
  • To enable our booking and appointment system to operate.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

As a healthcare provider, we take the privacy of your data very seriously. We do not use cookies to collect sensitive health information. Any information gathered via cookies relates solely to your website browsing behaviour and general usage patterns.

03

Types of Cookies We Use

The cookies we use fall into four main categories. The table below provides an overview of each category and how we use them.

Category Purpose Required
Essential Required for the website to function. Cannot be disabled. Always on
Analytics Help us understand how visitors interact with our website. Optional
Marketing Used to track visits and deliver relevant advertising. Optional
Functional Enable optional embedded services: our interactive clinic map and our live Google reviews feed. Optional

Each optional embedded service is described individually in Embedded Services below.

04

Essential Cookies

Essential cookies are strictly necessary for our website to function. They do not require your consent under PECR and cannot be turned off. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms.

Cookie Name Provider Purpose Expiry
hmdg_cookie_consent Chiro London Stores the cookie choices you make in our banner or preferences panel, so we can honour them on every page and never ask you again until they expire. 180 days

This is the only cookie our website sets, and it is the only one that is ever set before you make a choice. It is a first-party cookie: it is written for this domain only (Path=/, SameSite=Lax, and Secure over HTTPS), it is never sent to a third party, and it contains nothing but your category choices, the policy version they were given against, and the date and method of your choice. We do not use session cookies, and our pages are served as static files, so there is no server session or anti-forgery cookie to set.

05

Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website, so we can improve it. They are never set unless you switch Analytics on.

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), governed by Google Consent Mode v2, so no Google tag loads and no analytics cookie is written until you allow it. We never send Google your name, contact details, appointment details or any health information, and we do not ask it to identify you. We do not describe this data as anonymous: GA4 gives your browser a random identifier that can recognise it on later visits, and Google processes your IP address in transit to derive an approximate location. Withdrawing Analytics consent stops the collection and deletes these cookies from your browser.

Google Consent Mode v2 Configuration

analytics_storage Requires consent
ad_storage Requires consent
ad_user_data Requires consent
ad_personalization Requires consent
Cookie Name Provider Purpose Expiry
_ga Google Analytics Distinguishes unique users. Used to calculate visitor, session, and campaign data. 2 years
_ga_XXXXXXXX Google Analytics Stores session state for GA4 measurement. 2 years
_gid Google Analytics Distinguishes users. Registers a unique ID for a session. 24 hours
_gat Google Analytics Used to throttle request rate (limits data collection on high-traffic sites). 1 minute

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by visiting tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout (opens in a new tab) or by adjusting your cookie preferences through our consent banner.

06

Marketing Cookies

Marketing cookies measure whether an advert led to a visit or an enquiry. They are never set unless you switch Marketing on.

No advertising service is currently configured on this website. No advertising tag is loaded, no marketing cookie is written, and the Marketing option does not appear in our consent banner. We do not use Meta (Facebook), TikTok or any other advertising pixel. The table below describes the cookies Google Ads would set if we ever run measured campaigns, which would also require an update to this policy.

Cookie Name Provider Purpose Expiry
_gcl_au Google Ads Links a visit to the advert that brought you here, so a campaign can be credited with an enquiry. 3 months
_gac_* Google Ads Carries campaign information from an advert click into conversion measurement. 90 days

Marketing cookies are only placed on your device if you have provided explicit consent through our cookie consent banner. You may withdraw this consent at any time by adjusting your preferences in the banner or by following the browser instructions in section 09.

07

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on our website are set by third-party services we use to support our clinic operations and online presence. These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies.

Google LLC Analytics & Ads

We use Google measurement services to understand website usage and to measure advertising campaigns. They load only with your consent. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Trustindex Ltd, which supplies our optional live Google reviews feed, is itemised in Embedded Services below.

Managing Cookies in Your Browser

In addition to our consent banner, you can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, and be notified when cookies are set. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some parts of our website.

Optional Embedded Services

Two parts of this website are supplied by other companies and are switched off until you allow Functional cookies. Neither is loaded, and neither can read or write anything on your device, before you make that choice.

Google My Maps Functional

We offer an optional interactive map showing our clinic locations. The Google My Maps embed remains inactive unless you allow Functional cookies. If you enable it, your browser connects to Google, which may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details and may store or access information in accordance with its own policies. You can still find each clinic's address without loading the map.

Trustindex Ltd (live Google reviews) Functional

We offer an optional live feed of our Google reviews, supplied by Trustindex Ltd (Hungary). It remains inactive unless you allow Functional cookies. If you enable it, your browser connects to Trustindex and to Google, which hosts the reviewers' profile pictures; both may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details. Trustindex sets no cookies, but it does read and write short-lived entries in your browser's session storage, which your browser clears when you close the tab; we remove them if you turn Functional cookies back off. If you prefer not to enable it, we show the same reviews as a built-in carousel, and every review is publicly available on our Google Business Profiles.

Our live reviews feed is not used on this page, on our privacy policy, on our terms and conditions or on our contact page. The clinic map appears at the foot of every page and, like the reviews feed, stays switched off until you allow Functional cookies.
