First Time? Here's Exactly What Happens
What to Expect on Your First Visit
Most people who walk through our door for the first time are a bit nervous. Some have been putting it off for months. Some have heard things about chiropractors from a friend of a friend and aren't quite sure what they've signed up for.
So here's the whole thing, start to finish, with nothing left out. No surprises, no jargon, and definitely no drama.
Before You Come In
Booking takes about a minute online, or you can call the clinic and talk to an actual human — we still answer our own phones.
Once you're booked, we'll send you a short form to fill in beforehand. It saves time on the day and means your chiropractor has read up on you before you sit down.
Your First Appointment
The first visit is mostly conversation. We want to know what's wrong, obviously — but also how long it's been going on, what makes it worse, what you've already tried, what your job does to you, and what you actually want to get back to doing.
That last one matters more than people expect. "Pain-free" is a vague target. "Able to pick up my toddler without wincing" is something we can work towards.
After the conversation comes the examination — how you move, how your joints and muscles are behaving, plus orthopaedic and neurological testing where it's relevant. On-site digital X-ray is available if imaging would genuinely make the picture clearer, though most people don't need it.
Then we tell you what we found. In plain English, out loud, with the reasoning shown.
- What we think is going on, and why
- Whether chiropractic can help — and if it can't, who can
- What treatment would involve, and roughly how long
- What you can do at home to speed it along
If it's appropriate, treatment usually starts the same day. If we'd rather wait for imaging or a GP opinion first, we'll say so.
What Comes Next
Follow-up appointments are shorter and more focused. You'll usually have exercises to do in between — chiropractic works considerably better when you're an active participant rather than someone who lies there twice a week hoping for the best.
We review as we go. If something isn't working, we change it. If you're better, we'll tell you you're better rather than quietly booking you in for another twelve weeks.
- No lock-in and no pressure to commit up front
- Honest estimates of how many sessions you're likely to need
- We work with the major private health insurers
- Six clinics across Central and South West London, so you can switch to whichever suits your week
The Things People Are Too Polite to Ask
An adjustment shouldn't. Some people feel a bit tender the next day, like after a first gym session in a while. Tell us if anything is uncomfortable and we'll do it differently — there's nearly always another way.
Gas releasing from inside the joint, exactly like cracking a knuckle. It isn't bones, and the noise isn't the point.
No. Some people choose to come back for maintenance, plenty don't, and both are completely fine.
We'll say so, and point you to someone who can. We'd rather lose an appointment than waste your money.
