Gentle Pregnancy Chiropractic Care Across Central & South West London

Pregnancy asks a lot of your body in a short space of time. Your weight shifts forward, your ligaments soften, your posture changes, and the way you stand, sit and sleep all change with it.

Pregnancy chiropractic is ordinary chiropractic care, adapted for that. Same profession, same regulation, different positioning and a much lighter touch.

  • Assessment of how your spine, pelvis and hips are moving and coping
  • Pregnancy pillows and side-lying positions so you're never face down or uncomfortable
  • Low-force adjustments and gentle soft-tissue work
  • Webster's Technique - a specific chiropractic assessment and adjustment of the sacroiliac joint and surrounding soft tissue, used through pregnancy
  • Exercises and stretches you can actually do at eight months
  • Practical advice on sleeping, sitting, lifting a toddler and getting out of the car

We work alongside your midwife and GP, not instead of them. If something needs their attention, we'll tell you.

We treat pregnant women for the same musculoskeletal conditions we treat in anyone else:

  • General acute and chronic backache and back pain
  • Lumbago
  • Mechanical neck pain
  • Sciatica
  • Joint pains
  • Muscle spasms, cramp and generalised aches and pains
  • Tension and an inability to relax

Care can continue after your baby arrives. Feeding positions, carrying, car seats and broken sleep put their own demands on your back and neck, and that's familiar territory for us.

Your first appointment starts with a conversation - how far along you are, how the pregnancy is going, what's bothering you and what you've already tried. Then a gentle examination of how you're moving.

  • You'll be positioned on your side or supported by pregnancy cushions throughout
  • Nothing is done to your bump, and nothing involves force through the abdomen
  • Adjustments are lighter than standard chiropractic care
  • You can bring your partner in with you
  • Tell us at any point if a position isn't comfortable - we'll change it
  • Appointments are available in all three trimesters

Pregnancy Questions, Answered

Chiropractic is a statutorily regulated profession, and the chiropractors listed above have additional training in treating pregnant patients. Techniques, positioning and force are all adapted. If you have a complication or a condition that makes hands-on treatment unwise, we'll pick it up in the examination and talk to you about it.

Any point in your pregnancy. Some people come in early, some arrive in the third trimester when sleeping has become impossible. Both are fine.

It's a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment of the sacroiliac joint and the soft tissue around it, developed for use during pregnancy. Certified practitioners have completed dedicated postgraduate training in it.

It's good practice to let them know, and we'd encourage it. We're happy to communicate with your midwife or GP if that's useful.

Whenever you feel ready. Plenty of clients come in during the first few weeks. Bring the baby — nobody minds.
